The Big Shave est le premier court métrage de Martin Scorsese (1967). Il dure cinq minutes. Il met en scène un homme arrivant dans une salle de bain. Il se rase le visage mais se coupe de plus en plus, provoquant des saignements abondants au point de remplir le lavabo. C'est un symbole (biblique) de culpabilité et d'autodestruction. Le court-métrage se veut une critique de la guerre du vietnam où les soldats sont figurés comme étant de la "chair à canon".
