Synopsis

Le lieutenant Diamond s'use à traquer un chef de gang nommé Mister Brown mais en dépit de tous les moyens qu'il déploie, celui-ci reste intouchable. Le policier s'entête, sans doute mû par son attirance pour Susan Lowell. Ancienne pianiste devenue l'amante officiel du criminel, elle finit par craquer offrant au lieutenant Diamond une mince piste pour faire choir Mister Brown.

Commentaire

Association criminelle se situe dans la mouvance des films noirs de l'époque. Il sort peu de temps après Règlement de comptes (The Big Heat) de Fritz Lang et peu avant En quatrième vitesse (Kiss Me Deadly) de Robert Aldrich. L'œuvre est demeurée célèbre pour son aspect sulfureux. Les relations entre les personnages sont en effet très crues et équivoques.
