International Brotherhood of Teamsters

L'International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT - Fraternité internationale des conducteurs) ou Teamsters est le syndicat des conducteurs routiers américains. Il est affilié à la Fédération internationale des ouvriers du transport. C'est un des plus grands syndicats des États-Unis avec 1,4 million de membres. Ils sont surtout composés de travailleurs de l'automobile, des transports routiers, de l'industrie laitière et du domaine de l'entreposage.

Leur ancien président est Jimmy Hoffa, connu pour ses collusions avec la mafia, a disparu, probablement assassiné par le mafioso Anthony Provenzano en 1975. Son fils James P. Hoffa dirige actuellement les Teamsters.

Le 23 juillet 2005 les Teamsters ont annoncé leur boycott de la convention de l'AFL-CIO, imités par l'United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) et "Unite here", un groupe d'employés du textile et de l'hôtellerie. Ces syndicats dissident forment la nouvelle centrale Change to win et amputent l'AFL-CIO d'un quart de ses membres et d'un sixième de son budget.
