Tables rudolphines
Les tables astronomiques rudolphines furent établies par Johannes Kepler sur base des observations de Tycho Brahe à partir de 1576. La précision de ces mesures et l'élaboration de ces tables eurent un caractère primordial pour la découverte des lois du mouvement des planètes et par la suite pour la loi universelle de la gravitation.
Elles permirent alors de prédire avec une relative précision les événements célestes tels que les passages de Mercure et de Vénus devant le Soleil et les éclipses solaires et lunaires.
