Le Steamboat Geyser (le « geyser-bateau à roue ») est un célèbre geyser situé à Mammoth Hot Springs dans le parc national de Yellowstone aux États-Unis. C'est l'un des 400 geysers du parc.
Caractéristiques
Ses plus grosses éruption durent de 3 à 40 minutes et sont difficiles à prévoir, en moyenne elles atteignent 7 mètres de haut, environ toutes les 5 minutes. Après les éruptions, le geyser crache de la vapeur pendant parfois 2 jours. Sa dernière grande éruption date de mai 2005 : elle a duré 1 an, 5 mois et 19 jours.
Il est réputé pour être le plus grand geyser actif au monde. Durant ses éruptions majeures, il peut projeter de l'eau à 90 mètres de hauteur[1].
