Stanley Smith Stevens
Stanley Smith Stevens (1906-1973), éminent psychologue américain, fut le fondateur du laboratoire de psychoacoustique d'Harvard. On lui doit la mise en évidence des courbes d'isophonie.
Plus généralement, il contribua à la psychophysique en proposant une loi de puissance reliant la grandeur physique d'un stimulus et l'intensité perçue, dite loi de Stevens.
Auteur de nombreux articles, Hearing, its psychology and physiology (1938) et son Handbook of Experimental Psychology (1951) font encore références dans le domaine.
