Softmod est une expression formée par les mots de l'anglais : soft(logiciel) et mod (modification). Il signifie l'acte de modifier les valeurs du fonctionnement d'un dispositif, comme l'horloge de fréquence, par un programme. Il est régulièrement appliqué dans l'overclock des processeurs et des cartes vidéo.
