Petit ARN nucléaire
Les petits ARN nucléaires (snRNA ou ARNpn) sont présents seulement chez les eucaryotes. Ils se trouvent dans le noyau et contiennent entre 100 et 200 nucléotides (environs comme l’ARNt). Ils ne sont jamais à l’état libre et toujours liés à des protéines. Ils ont une structure secondaire et tertaire bien définie, à l'intérieur de complexes stables appelés «particules ribonucléoprotéique nucléaire» ou RNPnp (snRNP ou "snurp" en anglais). Leur rôle est d’intervenir dans la maturation des transcriptions primaires des gènes, mais également de transporter des ARNm vers le cytoplasme.
