La Slingbox est un appareil permettant de recevoir à travers un accès haut-débit internet les chaînes de télévision reçues par l'appareil.
Elle est fabriquée par l'entreprise californienne Sling Media.
La Slingbox se branche d'un côté sur votre source vidéo (receveur satellite, caméra IP etc ...) et de l'autre sur une connexion internet haut débit. Il faut pour son bon fonctionnement une capacité internet montante de 256 Ko minimum et de 1Mo pour la capacité internet descendante. Très en vogue aux États-Unis, elle permet d'emporter vos programmes télévisuels partout ou vous pouvez bénéficier d'une connexion internet haut débit. La transmission de votre source vidéo sur internet se fait par l'intermédiaire de la Slingbox en quasi direct. Equipé d'un pc, téléphone portable ou PDA, vous pouvez regarder vos programmes en installant le Slingplayer.
