Sechium est le nom d'un genre de plantes de la famille des Cucurbitacées dont douze espèces ont été décrites. La plus comnnue est la chayote, plante potagère grimpante cultivée dans les pays tropicaux.
Ce genre appartient à la tribu des Sicyeae.
