Abou Hassan Al Ash'ari
Sa Jeunesse , ses études
Abou Hassan Al Ash'ari passa son enfance à Bassorah avant de partir poursuivre ses études à Bagdad. Il y étudia notamment le droit auprès d'Abou Ishâq Al-Marwazi et le hadith auprès de Zakariyyâ Ibn Yahyâ As-Sâjî, et de Abou Khalîfah Al-Jumahî.
Il se forma par ailleurs en théologie (kalâm) auprès de son beau-père (mort en 915), cheik des Mu`tazilites et qui marqua le parcours de son jeune beau-fils.
L’imam Al-Ash`arî se forgea une réputation de dialecticien et de controversiste. En sus de ses aptitudes en théologie scolastique, il était également juriste, ayant un penchant pour la vie modeste de l’ascétisme. Certaines sources précisent d’ailleurs qu’il était soufi.[réf. nécessaire]
