Protein disulfide isomerase

La protein disulfide isomerase (PDI) (EC 5.3.4.1) est une enzyme qui catalyse le repliement correct des protéines (activité chaperonne); pour cela, elle catalyse également l'ouverture (réduction) / fermeture (oxydation) des ponts disulfures des protéines (activité oxydo-réductase). Dans la cellule, la PDI se trouve principalement dans le réticulum endoplasmique où les protéines sécrétées et membranaires sont formées. On la trouve néanmoins aussi en moindre quantité dans d'autres compartiments cellulaires (noyau, mitochondries, membrane).
