Synopsis
Le film raconte l'histoire d'un homme de main du monde interlope (Lee Marvin) qui est envoyé à Kansas City et chargé de récupérer l'argent que doit un mystérieux bandit (Gene Hackman) Celui-ci n'a évidemment pas l'intention de payer. Un abattoir sert de façade aux véritables activités du bandit soit la prostitution et la vente de drogue. Les ravissantes prostituées dont la principale vedette est Sissi Spacek, sont droguées et vendues comme du bétails. Une étrange relation vont réunir l'homme de main et la prostitué.
