Les Papiers posthumes du Pickwick Club
Les Papiers posthumes du Pickwick Club (titre original anglais : The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club, souvent abrégé en The Pickwick Papers) est le premier roman de Charles Dickens. L'idée en revient à l'illustrateur Robert Seymour et Dickens, qui commençait à se faire un nom depuis le succès obtenu par son recueil Esquisses de Boz (1832), est sollicité pour rédiger les textes.
Publié sous forme de feuilleton, les Pickwick Papers connurent un succès quasi immédiat. Le premier numéro fut tiré à 400 exemplaires environ ; à la fin, le tirage s'élevait à 40 000 exemplaires[1].
