Le photino est une particule hypothétique issue de la théorie de la supersymétrie. Il fait partie des WIMPs (Weakly Interacting Massive Particles en anglais, ce qui signifie « particules massives interagissant faiblement »). Il existe un boson (particule d'interaction) associé à chaque fermion (particule matérielle) et inversement. Le nom des superpartenaires associés aux particules de matière est obtenu en plaçant un s devant le nom de la particule. On a par exemple : les sélectrons, les gluinos, les squarks et les higgsinos. Dans ce cas, la particule du modèle standard est le photon, son superpartenaire supposé est le photino.
