La PMBox est un micro-ordinateur très simple, destiné à la mise à disposition du public, comme kiosque de consultation Internet ou poste de travail bureautique.
Dépourvue de pièce mécaniques bruyantes (ventilateur, disque dur), l'unité centrale est réduite à un simple boîtier sans capacité d'extension. À chaque démarrage, le système d'exploitation est rechargé dans sa configuration d'origine : les modifications faites par les utilisateurs ne sont pas enregistrées.
