For Those About to Rock We Salute You est le 8e album d'AC/DC, sorti en 1981. Il s'est vendu à plus de 12 millions d'exemplaires à travers le monde. Un album qui a subi des comparaisons défavorables par rapport à son prédécesseur, l'énorme succès Back in Black mais qui a cependant lui-même été un succès, surtout en Europe. L'album reste quand même de grande qualité et on peut y retrouver une certaine suite à Back in Black.

Anecdote

  • Pour le titre de l'album et de la chanson éponyme, Angus s'est inspiré d'un livre sur les gladiateurs intitulé For Those About to Die, We Salute You, traduction de la formule latine « Ave Caesar, morituri te salutant », prononcée par les gladiateurs avant un combat dans l'arène.
  • Lorsqu'ils enregistraient la chanson For Those About to Rock (We Salute You), la TV diffusait le direct du mariage de la Princesse de Galles dans la pièce adjacente. Les canons ont résonné alors qu'AC/DC répétait ce qui donna l'idée que l'on connait.
