L'Association nationale des journalistes noirs (NABJ), a été fondée en 1975 par 44 hommes et femmes à Washington, D. C. dont le siège se trouve à l'Université College Park du Maryland. Elle est composée de 4100 membres, c'est le plus grand organisme de journalistes de couleur de la nation Américaine. C'est aussi la plus grande des quatre associations qui composent « UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc. » L'organisation entretient aussi un Panthéon, qui est conçu pour honorer les journalistes Afro-américains.
