Mulayam Singh Yadav est un homme politique indien né en 1939. Il est le chef du gouvernement (chief minister) de l'Uttar Pradesh depuis 2003. Il avait déjà occupé ce poste entre 1993 et 1995. Mulayam Singh Yadav est le leader du Samajwadi Party ("parti socialiste"), parti soutenu essentiellement par des basses castes et la minorité musulmane. Il a également été ministre de la Défense du gouvernement central entre 1996 et 1998, au sein de la coalition National Front-Left Front (partis régionaux et de gauche).
