Mark Whitmore Evans est né le 2 mars 1956 à Melbourne. En mars 1975, il rencontre AC/DC alors à la recherche d'un bassiste plus expérimenté. Il rejoint rapidement le groupe qu'il quitte durant l'été 1977, suite à des rapports devenus tendus entre lui et Angus Young. Il figure sur les albums High Voltage, T.N.T., Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock et '74 Jailbreak.
