De Jadhb, « Ravissement ». Le ravi à lui-même par l’effet de la contemplation divine. Selon le soufisme, il s’agit d’un état de sainteté bien qu’il puisse se manifester extérieurement par des agissements marginaux. Les majdhub ont de ce fait besoin d’une éducation spirituelle, faites sous la direction d'un maître soufi afin de revenir à une maîtrise d’eux-mêmes, d’harmoniser leur état intérieur avec les affaires courantes de la vie sociale.
