Sophie Kinsella, de son vrai nom Madeleine Wickham, est née le 12 décembre 1969 à Londres. Elle vit actuellement à Londres avec son mari et ses trois jeunes fils: Freddy, Hugo et Oscar. Sa sœur Gemma Townley est aussi une auteur.
Sophie Kinsella a étudié au New College et est devenue écrivain après avoir été journaliste financière.
Elle travaille actuellement à l’adaptation cinématographique des Confessions d’une accro du shopping dont la sortie est prévue pour le 20 mai 2009. Touts ses grands succès sont adaptés chez Pocket
