Andrea Pia Yates (née le 2 juillet 1964) a tué le 20 juin 2001 ses cinq enfants en les noyant dans la baignoire familiale à Houston, Texas. Une première sentence l'a condamnée en 2002 à la prison à perpétuité pour meurtre avec préméditation avec remise en liberté conditionnelle possible après 40 ans d'emprisonnement. Le 26 juillet 2006, la décision a été revue en appel. Un jury texan a estimé Andrea Yates non coupable pour folie.
Elle a été transférée par la Cour au North Texas State Hospital (en), Vernon Campus, une institution spécialisée de haute-sécurité à Vernon, Texas. Elle y reçoit actuellement un traitement médical et partage sa cellule avec Dena Schlosser.
