Kathleen (Kate) Rubins est une astronaute de la NASA[1], sélectionnée en juin 2009. Née à Farmington (Connecticut) et originaire de Cambridge, Massachusetts, elle est âgée de 30 ans.Chercheur et associée au Whitehead Institute pour la recherche biomédicale au Massachusetts Institute of Technology[2] conduisant des missions de recherche scientifique au Congo. K. Rubins est diplômée de l'University of California, San Diego et de Stanford University.

Au Whitehead Institute, elle étudie notamment les maladies infectieuses de type variole et Ebola[3].

Après la sélection du groupe 20 d'astronautes de la NASA, c'est la cadette des astronautes de la NASA.
