The Henry Ford, un National Historic Landmark, aussi connu sous le nom d'Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village et plus formellement l'Edison Institute, est le plus grand musée couvert et à ciel ouvert des États-Unis. Il se situe dans la banlieue de Détroit , à Dearborn dans l'État du Michigan. [1],[2]

Plus qu'un musée, c'est également un parc de loisirs où l'on peut par exemple voyager en Ford T, en train, aller dans un cinéma IMAX ou voir des spectacles vivants. Nommé d'après son fondateur, le constructeur automobile Henry Ford et basé sur le désir de préserver des objets décrivant la révolution industrielle qu'avait connue les États-Unis mais aussi des bâtiments ou propriétés célèbres, des machineries, des expositions ou l'Americana (élements de la culture populaire américaine). La collection du musée possède aussi des pièces historiques rares comme la limousine de John F. Kennedy, le fauteuil d'Abraham Lincoln du Théâtre Ford de Washington, le laboratoire de Thomas Edison, la boutique des bicyclettes des Frères Wright ou le bus de Rosa Parks.

Henry Ford dit de son musée :

« I am collecting the history of our people as written into things their hands made and used.... When we are through, we shall have reproduced American life as lived, and that, I think, is the best way of preserving at least a part of our history and tradition... »
