Le diocèse de Carcassonne a été érigé en 533. En 2006, son nom a été changé en diocèse de Carcassonne et Narbonne, rappelant ainsi que l’archevêché de Narbonne a été supprimé en 1801 et son territoire rattaché à l’évêque de Carcassonne.
