Shitou Xiqian

Shitou Xiqian

Shítóu Xīqiān (ch. trad. : 石頭希遷 ; Wade-Giles : Shih-t'ou Hsi-ch'ien ; jap. : Sekitō Kisen) est un maître Chan chinois du VIIIe siècle. Il est l'auteur du Sandokai, un des textes fondamentaux du zen Sōtō, chanté quotidiennement dans les temples zen du monde entier. Il fut l'élève de Huineng, le sixième patriarche du chan en Chine, à la fin de la vie de ce dernier, puis il devint l'élève de Qingyuan Xingsi, à qui il succède comme huitième patriarche du chan chinois selon la tradition Sōtō.
