Reita Faria Powell née à Bombay (la date de naissance reste inconnue) est devenue la première femme indienne à gagner le titre de Miss Monde en 1966. Après avoir remporté la couronne de Miss Bombay plus tôt au cours de cette même année, elle a gagné le titre de Miss India (à ne pas confondre avec le concours Femina de Miss India, obtenu cette année-là par Yasmin Daji).
Après avoir tenu sa fonction pendant un an, elle refusa de devenir mannequin ou actrice et s'est concentrée sur ses études de médecine. Elle vit à Dublin, en Irlande avec son mari, l'endocrinologue David Powell, avec qui elle s'est mariée en 1971. Ils ont deux enfants et cinq petits-enfants. Reita Faria a fait partie du jury du concours Femina de Miss India de 1998, et est revenue pour faire partie du jury de Miss Monde en diverses occasions.
