Markab (Alpha Pegasi, α Peg) est la troisième étoile la plus brillante de la constellation de Pégase. Elle est l'une des quatre étoiles composant l'astérisme du Grand carré de Pégase.

Elle se trouve à la fin de son évolution sur la séquence principale, et va probablement entrer dans la phase de combustion de l'hélium d'ici quelques millions d'années, ce qui l'amènera probablement à devenir une géante rouge, avant de finir sa vie en tant que naine blanche.

Le nom Markab provient d'une phrase en arabe (المركب الفرس, al-markab al-faras), qui signifie « la selle du cheval », en l'occurrence celle de Pégase.
